Sara Landry’s legal battle with former management escalates

Sara Landry’s legal dispute now spans two countries, with competing lawsuits raising questions about music ownership and label control.

Sara Landry’s legal battle with her former management is escalating, with the popular techno artist’s company filing a lawsuit in New York federal court over the alleged unauthorized use of her professional name and record label branding.

Landry IP LLC filed the suit against Night Night Ltd., which operates as The Night Department, and its affiliated company Prepare to Flash. The complaint alleges the companies continued using Landry’s name and Hekate Records branding to promote management services and distribute music after their professional relationship ended in October 2025.

The U.S. lawsuit adds another front to the dispute, which is also being fought in the United Kingdom. The Night Department has filed a separate case challenging the termination of its management agreement with Landry, while Landry has filed counterclaims in those proceedings.

According to the U.S. complaint, the continued use of Landry’s trademarks created a misleading impression that the former management companies remained authorized to represent her and her label. The filing also alleges Prepare to Flash blocked efforts to transfer control of Hekate Records’ account with music distributor Believe after Landry’s representatives requested access.

The dispute also involves competing claims over ownership of Landry’s music catalog and Hekate Records. The complaint alleges the defendants sought a 50% ownership stake in both without providing appropriate compensation, while Landry wanted to retain full ownership.

In the U.K. case, The Night Department has maintained that it was transparent about ownership matters and argued that Landry had no valid reason to terminate the management agreement.

Through the U.S. lawsuit, Landry IP LLC is seeking to stop the alleged unauthorized trademark use and recover financial damages. The complaint does not specify the amount being sought. The allegations have not been established in court.

I've been writing, covering events, and doing interviews with Exron for nearly four years, but have been an EDM-lover for over a decade. The music community and industry has a special place in my heart and I love exploring the depths. EDC Las Vegas is my favorite festival and this year will be my sixth time attending. Some other recent festivals I've been are Ultra, Elements, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, and Arc. I've been getting more into experimental bass, but techno and house will always have my heart. <3
