Former Maroon 5 member Mickey Madden’s wife files for domestic violence restraining order

Mickey Madden is a bad boy, husband, and, honestly, a horrible human.

Catherine Blair Bowman, the (soon-to-be ex) wife of former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden, has filed for a restraining order against her spouse, alleging unsettling instances of physical abuse and inappropriate online conduct with teenage girls. According to documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 30th, Bowman claims Madden assaulted her after she confronted him about a sexually explicit text exchange with a teenage girl.

In the documents, Bowman stated that she was “terrified” of Madden, a 46-year-old fallen-from-grace musician, and described a violent altercation on July 21st, the day she says she was contacted by one of the underage women involved. In her filing, Bowman recounted confronting Madden about his behavior before witnessing him transform into a demon.

In an effort to prevent Madden from erasing any evidence, Bowman snatched her then-husband’s phone and attempted to flee. She alleged that Madden then physically restrained her, slammed her against a marble kitchen counter, and shoved her to the ground. “He appeared literally insane to me,” Bowman wrote. “I had never seen such uncontrollable anger.”

Bowman continued to describe a horrific scene. “He then slammed my body against the marble kitchen counter. I felt pain in my hip and waist area. He shoved me to the ground and was out of his mind. I landed on my knees. He kept screaming for me to give him the phone.”

The court granted a temporary restraining order, which extends to the couple’s two huskies, Toast and Jam. With the restraining order in effect, Bowman and the puppies will be safe, out of Madden’s reach. A court hearing is scheduled for August 20th to revisit the restraining order and begin divorce proceedings. According to the filing, Madden currently resides in a rehabilitation facility (and hopefully a dodgy one at that) while he awaits the hearing.

The filings also reference an earlier alleged incident of abuse on May 14th, as well as screenshots of text messages in which Madden purportedly described his behavior as a “fake harmless fantasy” that had “no bearing on real life.” Bowman responded by referencing disturbing details, including alleged interactions with 18-year-old sex workers during their honeymoon.

Madden, who left Maroon 5 in 2020 following a previous domestic violence arrest, has a history of legal trouble, including a 2016 cocaine possession charge in New York City
