Ellie Goulding sues former managers over ties to Live Nation
Ellie Goulding alleges her former managers’ ties to Live Nation conflicted with their responsibility to act in her best interests.
UK singer Ellie Goulding has filed a lawsuit against her former managers, alleging their undisclosed ties to Live Nation created a conflict of interest that may not have been in her best interest. Goulding signed with TaP Management, which reportedly represented her from 2018 until 2025.
At the time she signed with Ben Mawson and Ed Millett, Live Nation had already acquired a 50.1% stake in TaP’s parent company. The lawsuit claims that Goulding was not made aware of the relationship when she signed with the managers or when Live Nation took full ownership in 2019. The ties, Goulding alleges, created a conflict because her managers had obligations to a company that could also benefit from Goulding doing business with Live Nation.
According to the lawsuit, Mawson and Millett were supposed to act in Goulding’s best interests when advising her on business opportunities and negotiating deals. However, their alleged ties to Live Nation could have affected their ability to recommend the best options for her. The claim states that the managers were restricted from encouraging their clients to “terminate or otherwise reduce or diminish” their business relationships with Live Nation or its affiliates.
This became significant because Goulding did business with companies within the Live Nation group during the time she was represented by TaP. Her agreements reportedly included deals involving touring, merchandise and a documentary. Goulding argues that her managers’ relationship with Live Nation meant they had an interest in maintaining those business relationships, even if another company could have potentially offered her better terms.
Had she known about the relationship, she could have questioned whether her managers were able to negotiate with Live Nation independently or advise her to consider competing companies.
The legal dispute comes at a busy time for Goulding, as she is set to release her sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, on September 4 before beginning a series of UK performances later that month.
