Bonnaroo announces 2027 hiatus following years of storms
Despite the success of the 2026 edition of Bonnaroo Festival, organizers announced a 2027 hiatus for land restoration.
After hosting their 2026 festival in Manchester, Tennessee, the organizers of Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival have announced that the event will take a sabbatical. Following years of heavy storms, Bonnaroo decided that it needed significant infrastructure overhauls. The festival team revealed that “The Farm” will rest and undergo critical land restoration throughout 2027.
The decision comes after back-to-back years of intense summer rainstorms, including a heavy downpour on the Sunday of the 2026 festival. Ahead of the 2026 edition, organizers made significant investments to strengthen the venue’s resilience to these summer storms. Upgrades included four and a half miles of new roadways, 135 acres of freshly laid grass, and extensive drainage improvements across the campgrounds and Centeroo. However, event leaders recognized that the heavily trafficked grounds need extended time to heal properly.

In a message posted directly to Bonnaroo’s Instagram page, organizers expressed deep gratitude for all the special moments over the years while confirming the difficult decision. “The Farm remains as special as ever, and for a few days, we were once again reminded of the good things in this world,” the statement read. “With limited time to recuperate from back to back years of storms… The Farm, particularly the main venue, needs a break to rest and recover. So, here’s what we’ve decided: Bonnaroo will be taking a much-needed year off in 2027”.
For festival-goers and electronic music fans alike, the news comes as a devastating pause after the massive 2026 turnout that saw incredible performances from many different artists. The festival is known for bringing together everything from high-energy dance acts to massive pop headliners and indie darlings. Bonnaroo has long held a special spot in North American festival culture. While missing a year might be frustrating for fans of the event, taking care of the land ensures the festival has long-term sustainability.
Organizers have made it clear that this hiatus is not a farewell, but instead a temporary pause designed to ensure the event’s future. The team emphasized that taking this step will ultimately allow Bonnaroo to return stronger, healthier, and better prepared for decades of unforgettable festival memories to come.
Closing out their announcement with a reminder, the Bonnaroo team urged fans to carry the spirit of the event with them during the off-year: “We hope you’ll continue radiating positivity in your community throughout the year and thank you for loving this festival as much as we do”. Until The Farm reopens its gates, music lovers will be counting down the days until they can reunite under the Manchester skies once again.
