AFROJACK and Gregor Salto unite under their new Afro house project

AfroSalto is the collaborative project of Dutch producers AFROJACK and Gregor Salto, bringing together decades of friendship and two successful independent careers. The duo shares a passion for Afro house, emotionally driven club records, and global rhythms, making the project a natural evolution of their longtime creative relationship. Although they’ve collaborated on music over the years and appeared on each other’s records, AfroSalto marks the first time they’ve united under a dedicated alias.

While both artists have earned widespread respect in electronic music individually, AfroSalto was born from a shared desire to explore new creative territory. AFROJACK is a global dance music icon known for his festival anthems, electro house productions, and mainstream pop collaborations. Gregor Salto, meanwhile, has spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of the Netherlands’ most respected underground producers. His productions have long blended house music with Latin, Afro, and Caribbean influences, making him a natural creative partner for AfroSalto’s globally inspired sound. Together, the duo embraces Afro house through organic percussion, melodic grooves, and rich cultural influences.

Their latest release under the AfroSalto project, “Hombre Malo,” arrived on Friday, July 31, via Francis Mercier‘s Deep Root Tribe imprint. The track is a vibrant fusion of Afro house and Latin folklore, featuring Colombian duo Flagrant Drvms alongside Cartagena-born vocalist La Negra Hawkins. Rooted in the musical traditions of Colombia’s Caribbean coast, the record blends organic percussion and Afro-Latin rhythms into a modern club production.

AFROJACK and GRAMMY-winning producer, DJ, and Deep Root Records founder Francis Mercier have built a longstanding creative relationship, sharing stages at events around the world, including Zamna Tulum and Mercier’s Soley event at Hï Ibiza earlier this year. As AFROJACK continues to embrace the global Afro house movement, “Hombre Malo” feels like a natural fit for Mercier’s Deep Root Tribe imprint.

AfroSalto is more than a side project; it’s an opportunity for two longtime friends to create music rooted in the sounds that have inspired them throughout their careers. By blending Afro house with global musical traditions, the duo continues to explore a new creative chapter while celebrating the cultural influences that shape their evolving sound.
