Carl Cox Returns to Infamous Club Space, the Miami Edition – [RECAP]

It’s not Ibiza, but it’s definitely Club Space

Carl Cox’s fall tour is in full swing, with the legendary DJ making pitstops in North American cities such as Los Angles, Brooklyn, Dallas and more. And although any and all Carl Cox concerts are wonderful – exciting and vibrant, buzzing with an energy only true legends can inspire – one in particular deserves a special spotlight.

To kick off Spooktober’s ghoulish festivities, Cox performed at Miami’s infamous Club Space, a disco jungle that’s best known for sunrise sets on their rooftop terrace, hazy dancefloor mania, and unabashed motely crews. Although Miami’s Club Space has no relation to Cox’s former residency in Ibiza, a 20-year-long partnership with one of the Island’s most-talked about clubs, he threw down as though it were the mid 2000’s and we were in Europe, a land of house music, sunnies inside, and lawlessness.

Lasers lit Club Space’s terrace greenery aflame with banners of purple and waves of crimson while Cox chanted, “Oh yes oh yes Miami!” With each exclamation, the crowd surged with pride, whistling and beaming. And Cox came prepared for Miami’s audience, as he turned out Latin-infused house hit after house hit, with Spanish narrations such as, “Ama, que la vida es corta y no perdón…” which translates to, “Love, life is short and I’m not sorry…”

Per Space’s usual itinerary, Cox played from the witching midnight hour into the morning, making his exit well past sunrise. When he finally stepped away from the turn tables, the crowd collectively sighed, exhausted but deeply satiated. The set was high energy, classic Cox, emblematic of unyielding European house, and funky, meeting expectations and then some. Until next time, Miami!

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
