DanceSafe Makes Harm Reduction Kits Available For Public Purchase In Denver – [READ]

Harm reduction organization DanceSafe has installed a permanent kiosk at Things That Glow in Denver, which includes testing kits, fentanyl strips, and more.

DanceSafe shared a photo of the kiosk to Facebook with the caption, “Yes, this is real. Yes, you can buy harm reduction supplies at Things That Glow in Denver. 23 years later and we’re in an ice cream fridge in public.”

For years, DanceSafe has been setting up harm reduction booths at festivals and venues, such as Red Rocks, where they’ll test someone’s substances without the fear of them getting in trouble. However, they’ve faced serious pushback, including their booths being shut down.

Not only do we have DanceSafe to thank for this monumental turning point, but the city of Denver should be commended for its progressive attitude toward drugs and harm reduction.

This announcement coincides with the recent uptick in fentanyl overdoses in Colorado and across the country. Unfortunately, the rave scene has been particularly affected by these overdoses

Although DanceSafe has been pushing for years to make harm reduction materials more widespread and readily available, this certainly feels like the right time for their kiosk to be opened. Denver residents can visit Things That Glow at  5275 W 48th Ave every day except for Sunday. For those not local to the Denver area, harm reduction kits can continue to be purchase on DanceSafe’s website.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
