Inside Whipped Cream’s debut album ‘Home Was Always Me’
WHIPPED CREAM steps fully into her most vulnerable era yet with the release of her debut album, ‘HOME WAS ALWAYS ME’.
Out now via Monstercat, the 14-track project showcases the producer and vocalist’s emotionally driven approach to dance music, blending house, techno, and bass-heavy soundscapes into a deeply personal listening experience. The album follows a string of acclaimed EP releases including ‘Careline’, ‘is this real?’, and ‘Someone You Can Count On’, all of which helped shape the emotional foundation of this full-length debut.
Leading into the release, WHIPPED CREAM shared standout singles including “it’s time to go home”, “2 u”, and “stranger”. “stranger” quickly became a breakout hit, earning over 2.8 million Spotify streams while landing on Viral Top 50 charts in both the U.S. and Canada alongside SiriusXM BPM support.
The album’s centerpiece, “midnight moon”, is a reflective anthem about longing and enduring connection. “‘midnight moon’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever made,” Caroline Cecil shared. “The song carries a soft sadness, a longing, but also this quiet magic: no matter where we are in the world, we’re all looking at the same moon.”
Beyond the production itself, ‘HOME WAS ALWAYS ME’ explores themes of identity, perception, and authenticity through a conceptual lens inspired by the Biblical figure Eve. Rather than portraying Eve as a symbol of shame, WHIPPED CREAM reframes her as someone courageous enough to remain true to herself despite outside judgment. “People say ‘be yourself,’ but the moment you do, they project onto you. This album is about choosing yourself anyway,” she explained.
From her roots as a competitive figure skater to becoming one of electronic music’s most distinctive creative voices, WHIPPED CREAM continues carving out a lane entirely her own. Following major performances at Tomorrowland, Coachella, and Lollapalooza, the arrival of ‘HOME WAS ALWAYS ME’ feels less like a debut and more like the arrival of an artist fully stepping into her identity.
