Man posing as Justin Bieber team member steals $200k worth of electric buggies

Fake Bieber rep pulls off $200K Coachella heist with luxury rides vanishing in hours, proving festival chaos doesn’t stop at the stage.

A bizarre Coachella-adjacent scam has unfolded. A fake representative claiming ties to Justin Bieber and his management allegedly pulled off a $200,000 electric vehicle heist, proving that festival season chaos doesn’t always sound pretty. And no, this wasn’t a surprise set… unless stealing cars has officially become a new act in the industry.

The incident began with what seemed like a routine last-minute request. A Newport Beach rental company has received a call from someone claiming to be part of Bieber’s team, requesting four electric Moke vehicles to shuttle the pop star between a private residence and Coachella. Given Bieber’s recent presence and buzz around the festival, the request hasn’t raised immediate red flags.

Things have quickly unraveled when a promised deposit failed to arrive, though the renter reportedly brushed it off with excuses that, in hindsight, have aged about as well as a melted popsicle in the desert. The vehicles were delivered as planned, but within hours, GPS trackers have revealed something far less VIP: the cars were speeding away on a flatbed truck, heading in the opposite direction of any festival afterparty.

The situation escalated rapidly, with the vehicles ultimately crossing the border into Mexico before signals disappeared entirely. The loss has dealt a significant blow to the business, wiping out a substantial portion of its fleet. Authorities have since launched an investigation, though the suspects—and the cars—have effectively ghosted harder than a DJ who says they’re gonna release that one ID but didn’t.

Adding to the absurdity, the incident has echoed past moments of impersonation chaos involving Justin Bieber, like the time an impersonator managed to sneak into Gryffin’s Las Vegas set and make a guest appearance. Apparently, if you look confident enough and name-drop the right celebrity, chances are security will recognize it and let you pass through.

While Bieber himself has had nothing to do with the scheme, the story has landed perfectly in a weekend already filled with viral Coachella moments-just what he wanted. At this point, festival season has successfully delivered plot twists fans wouldn’t know.
