Why Palm Springs Became One of America’s Most Immersive Festival Destinations.
Palm Springs nightlife is built around escapism, hospitality, and atmosphere rather than traditional club culture. It is positioned perfectly for an easy getaway, located just 2–3 hours from Los Angeles, drivable from San Diego, and easily accessible from Orange County.
The minute you step out of the car, you’re immersed in retro glamour, pools, and wellness culture. In Palm Springs, the destination becomes part of the festival experience. That’s why events like Coachella, Splash House, Goldenvoice Surf Club, and the newly announced Head Trip feel so visually cohesive. Festivals there didn’t have to create an identity from scratch because Palm Springs already had one. With the city built around tourism and hospitality, hotels naturally become part of the festival experience as well.
Coachella changed everything for Palm Springs once it became a global icon. Now the city represents culture, music discovery, trendsetting, and influencer visibility. The desert environment creates a more emotionally immersive experience, which is part of why festivals there feel so memorable and cinematic compared to other destinations.
1) Coachella
If you love music, you know Coachella. The massive multi-genre festival has evolved into one of the most important electronic music festivals in the world because of stages like the Sahara Tent, Yuma Tent, and Do LaB. Coachella is known for being where trends start.
2) Splash House
The most EDM-focused festival in Palm Springs is Splash House. The vibe is a boutique hotel and pool-party festival built around house, disco, tech house, and underground electronic music. It takes place across multiple Palm Springs hotels and has become a staple summer electronic music event. This year’s festival takes place August 7–9 and August 14–16, with the lineup still to be announced.
3) Goldenvoice Surf Club
Goldenvoice Surf Club is a newer festival concept that recently took place April 18–19, 2026. It blends DJ sets, surf culture, pool parties, and wellness. More of a Coachella extension than a standalone festival, recent performers included Subtronics, Genesi, Joshwa, and Gordo.
4) Head Trip
One of the newest additions to Palm Springs’ festival scene is Head Trip, a brand-new electronic music festival launching at the Empire Polo Club in 2026. The lineup includes artists like Skrillex, Peggy Gou b2b Four Tet, Chris Lake, Dom Dolla b2b KETTAMA, and Swedish House Mafia.
Outside of festivals, there are also a few Palm Springs nightlife staples. Reforma Palm Springs is probably the closest thing the city has to a true EDM nightclub, with a large dance floor, lights, and late-night energy. Hunters Palm Springs is known for LGBTQ+ dance nightlife, remix-heavy music, and packed crowds. After Hours offers a more intimate late-night lounge experience with DJs and craft cocktails.
Palm Springs is less of a weekly club culture city and more of an immersive, event-driven destination where music, hospitality, fashion, wellness, and aesthetics blend together.
