EXRON EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: KREAM

We recently got the chance to catch up with brothers Daniel and Markus of KREAM.  They were hot off their set at Electric Zoo in New York City on the main stage. We discussed the evolution of their music and specifically their house music sound. Their recent tracks ‘Go Somewhere’ and ‘Aint Thinkin Bout You’ have seen smashing success on streaming platforms and show performances. As they continue to define their sound and perform across the world, we suggest you keep them on your ones to watch list!

Exron Music: Can you tell us a little bit about the creation of the “Kream” project and how your vision has evolved over time?

KREAM: I started out alone and I was working alone for a couple of years and I eventually started showing my little brother some really bad stuff, he was still impressed though.  We started working together for the next four years and eventually we started putting stuff out on SoundCloud. Once we put stuff on Soundcloud it really took off, so that’s kind of how we started.

Exron Music: You recently released the track “Go Somewhere” with RANI.  What kind of message were you aiming to portray to fans with this track?

KREAM: We just wanted to show off our house side more. The track is more about being confident and just having a good time.  It’s about going somewhere and just having a good time and smiling. But yeah, we wanted to show off more of our house-y side that we started off with. We took a detour for awhile but we are getting back to our house roots.

Exron Music: What was it like to support Lost Kings on their recent ‘So What’ tour?

KREAM: It’s always amazing.  We had a lot of fun and we got to see so many different places in the US that we haven’t been before. We had a good time and the Lost Kings dudes are just amazing. It was so nice to see the full spectrum of America–see the cities and how different everything can be.

Exron Music: Do you all have any upcoming plans for a KREAM headlining tour?

KREAM: Not yet. We don’t currently have any KREAM headlining tour plans but maybe in 2020.

Exron Music: We love your recent track ‘Ain’t Thinkin Bout You’ with Eden Prince and Louisa. Tell us a little bit about this track and the remix competition that went with it.

KREAM: The track started out when we got a demo from a Swedish songwriter named Amanda, I think we had it for three years just lying there and one day we just started working on it again.  Eden Prince was doing a remix for us at the time on “Deep End” so we just sent over this track to him as well and he loved it and we all started working on it together.  Later on we got Louisa to record it and it just came together.

Exron Music: Are there differences that you notice between the Norwegian music scene and the American music scene? Can you explain aspects that you all like about both?

KREAM: I mean, it’s all about bass-y stuff here in the US.  You guys like to go hard and we also like that everyone here likes to dress up.  It’s definitely cool to see people with banners and different outfits, it’s sick.  In Europe people don’t dress up nearly as much. In Norway, they go pretty hard as well.  They have to drink a lot to start dancing. So it’s definitely different.

Exron Music: Out of all the tracks you both have worked on is there a specific track that you feel most proud of?

KREAM: It’s either ‘Decisions’ or ‘Go Somewhere’.  Yeah I can agree with that.

Exron Music: What are some things we can look forward to with the future of KREAM?

KREAM: There’s gonna be a lot more house music and club tracks coming out that we are really excited about.  Also some more stuff that’s coming out on Musical Freedom.  It’s gonna be great.
