John Summit threatens to ‘retire’ from DJing after experiencing ‘burnout’

John SUmmit has threatened to retire following criticism of recent London gig.

John Summit has threatened to retire after receiving backlash at his most recent show in London. The statement comes to light from a comment on Twitter about his set at KOKO on May 10th. Although he is, “not sure how much [he] even mean(s)” it, it is evident that the legendary DJ and producer is worn out.

The initial comment that sparked his comments is from a fan who attended his show at one of London’s most iconic venues, KOKO. The comment says, “John Summit last year at Koko clears tonight by a MILE.” To which John Summit quote tweeted with a reply “agreed.”

Summit followed up by saying that he wants to “retire” and that he doesn’t care about the money and would rather, “be an accountant by day and just play parties where people actually dance at night.”

It seems these comments likely came from a Twitter rant, Summit assured that although he is not sure if he truly means he wants to retire, he is simply just, “burnt out beyond belief.”

John Summit Experts Only

John Summit has had a nonstop touring and music release schedule over the past few years. This includes the launch and rebrand of his label Experts Only and a collaboration project with Dom Dolla, Everything Always. Jetting off to different countries and cities (often on the same day), Summit has played some of the biggest festivals in the world like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and EDC.

Due to this active lifestyle, Summit has seemingly stretched himself thin. Summit is set to play over 25 shows in the next 3 months. This includes traveling to 10+ countries in addition to the many shows he is set to play at LIV Nightclub in Las Vegas, where he holds his residency. With his upcoming album set to be released this year, Summit has consistently been releasing brand new music including his newest collab with Sub Focus and Julia Church, “Go Back.”

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
