Mayan Warrior will not be bringing art car to Burning Man 2026

Mayan Warrior is taking a break from bringing its iconic art car to Burning Man in 2026, shifting its focus to art, music and community at its new Discosmos camp.

Mayan Warrior, the Mexico City-based art and music collective known for its large-scale art car at Burning Man, will not bring the vehicle to the festival in 2026, the group announced. In a message to its community, Mayan Warrior said it is taking a pause from bringing its art car to Black Rock City after more than a decade of participation.

“For over a decade, The Playa has been our most cherished home,” the group said, describing Burning Man as a place that has inspired it to “evolve, create, and reimagine what’s possible.”

The decision does not mark an end to Mayan Warrior’s involvement with the Burning Man community. The collective said its events will continue, while its focus at this year’s festival will shift toward art and creative projects.

Mayan Warrior will establish a new camp, Discosmos, at 2 & J, where the group plans to create a space centered on creativity, art installations and music. The announcement signals a change for a project that has become closely associated with Burning Man’s art car culture. Mayan Warrior’s elaborate vehicle, which featured a distinctive illuminated design and hosted musical performances, became a prominent fixture on the playa over the years.

The group did not provide a specific reason for pausing the art car’s appearance in 2026. Instead, Mayan Warrior framed the move as a continuation of its creative evolution and an opportunity to explore a different form of participation at Burning Man.

“We are so grateful for your support in being on this magical journey with us,” the group said in its message to supporters. While the Mayan Warrior art car will be absent from the playa this year, the collective is expected to remain active through its events and its new Discosmos camp, keeping its focus on music, art and community.

I've been writing, covering events, and doing interviews with Exron for nearly four years, but have been an EDM-lover for over a decade. The music community and industry has a special place in my heart and I love exploring the depths. EDC Las Vegas is my favorite festival and this year will be my sixth time attending. Some other recent festivals I've been are Ultra, Elements, Lost Lands, Electric Forest, and Arc. I've been getting more into experimental bass, but techno and house will always have my heart. <3
