Detox Unit returns with first original release in 3 years

Detox Unit blesses fans with an explosive new single “Detonator,” his first original release in nearly three years.

Experimental bass producer Detox Unit has officially kicked off his next musical chapter with the release of “Detonator,” his first original single since the arrival of his hit 2023 album ‘Liminal’, delivering a fresh dose of his trademark sound.

Released July 24, the new track marks the Denver-based artist’s return after spending the past year focused on creating new music. While ‘Liminal’ showcased Detox Unit’s intricate approach to experimental bass, “Detonator” shifts toward a more direct, high-impact sound built for massive sound systems.

Driven by a gritty hip-hop vocal sample and bouncing low-end, “Detonator” blends the producer’s signature precision with a heavier, festival-ready energy. The result is a track that maintains the detailed production fans have come to expect while leaning further into explosive dancefloor momentum.

The release follows a busy stretch on the road for Detox Unit. Earlier this summer, he made two surprise appearances at Electric Forest, including a performance on the Good Life Stage and his first-ever back-to-back set alongside Thought Process at Grand Artique.

His touring schedule continues throughout the remainder of 2026 with headline performances scheduled for Sound Haven and Nocturnal Valley, along with appearances at Secret Dreams, Telluride Town Park, and Eternal NYE in Orlando.

Known for pushing the boundaries of experimental bass music, Detox Unit has built a loyal following through intricate releases and immersive live performances. His diverse catalog includes ‘The Abyss’ (2016), ‘Deviate’ (2019), ‘Liminal’ (2023), and the ongoing ‘Recent Works’ series. His performances have become staples within Tipper‘s extended community and curated events.

With “Detonator,” Detox Unit offers the first glimpse at what’s next, signaling the beginning of a new era while delivering a track designed to hit just as hard on festival stages as it does at home. Listen below.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
