Beyond Wonderland Midwest expands to new format with camping
Beyond Wonderland Midwest unveils camping, three days of music, and a new festival home coming to Chicagoland Speedway
A new chapter is on the horizon for Beyond Wonderland Midwest. Following a strong edition in Chicago this year, the festival is preparing for its biggest transformation yet as it expands beyond its city roots and steps into a larger scale destination experience. Beginning in 2027, the event will take on a new name, new home, and a format designed for a weekend full of adventure.
Curated by Insomniac, the festival will relocate from Northerly Island to Chicagoland Speedway, where it will take place June 11 through 13. The move opens the door for a significantly larger footprint, giving the organizers more room to expand stage production, immersive attractions, and late night energy.
This transition also marks the festivals first three day edition after years as a two day event. A Thursday pre party will kick off the weekend, offering attendees time to settle into the experience before the main festival begins. With more time on the schedule, the event will expectedly deliver a stacked lineup.
Perhaps the most notable addition is the introduction of camping. For the first time, attendees will be able to stay on site for four nights, creating a more connected festival community from start to finish. Both car camping and RV camping options will be available, allowing for a true getaway rather than a quick city excursion.
The venue itself carries a bit of history in particular with this event. Chicagoland Speedway previously hosted EDC Chicago, making the return a meaningful one. Bringing Beyond Wonderland to the same grounds adds another layer to the festival’s evolution while honoring a piece of its past.
With a larger venue and the introduction of camping, Beyond Wonderland Midwest is stepping into uncharted territory. As the festival enters a new era, it will be interesting to see how Insomniac continues to build out the world of Beyond at a larger scale.
