Summer Camp Music Festival abruptly cancels 2026 event
Less than two weeks before gates were set to open, Summer Camp’s anniversary comeback unraveled in real time.
Summer Camp Music Festival has officially canceled its 25th anniversary reunion. Set to return on May 21–24, 2026, at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois, the event was abruptly canceled via chaotic announcements on social media. The 2026 lineup was set to feature artists including STS9, Big Gigantic, Two Friends, EOTO and Manic Focus.
On Instagram, Summer Camp posted a statement briefly, and then it quickly disappeared. Organizers wrote that the cancellation is due to “unforeseen financial circumstances involving a third-party service provider,” along with “resulting contract complications,” as reasons the event could no longer be produced “safely and responsibly.”
In the comment section, many fans went into full detective mode and speculated whether the festival is completely underwater financially. Organizers told attendees to “refer to the point of purchase” for updates regarding refunds or credits. They also encouraged ticket holders to contact their banks and credit card companies about purchase protection policies. Naturally, this further fueled rumors that the festival may not currently have the funds available for direct refunds.
The cancellation is especially devastating to the festival’s OG fans because Summer Camp has spent the past several years attempting to reinvent itself. Summer Camp first announced an indefinite hiatus in 2023 and later revealed the festival would take on a new form and evolve into a new concept called Solshine Reverie. This full rebrand was set to create a smaller and centered-in-community approach that was intended to keep the spirit of Summer Camp alive, but it unfortunately didn’t last long.

The Summer Camp 2025 return was ultimately scrapped and replaced with a smaller Memorial Day concert series concept on Peoria’s riverfront. But this was later canceled as well. Because of the constant turmoil, earlier this year, fans started to voice frustrations (creating lengthy Reddit threads and all) with the festival’s prolonged silence and lack of communication leading up to the anniversary return. Then, founder Ian Goldberg finally announced that the 25th anniversary in 2026 will indeed be back in full swing.
Fans are still left scrambling for refund answers and wondering if this is the true end of Summer Camp Music Festival for good. For more details and updates, head to the official Summer Camp Music Festival.
