Inside the EDM anthems soundtracking the 2026 Winter Olympics
EDM at the 2026 Winter Olympics proved that icy arenas and festival anthems are a surprisingly perfect match.
Electronic dance music found an unexpected but fitting home at the 2026 Winter Olympics, where familiar drops became a defining part of the Games’ atmosphere. The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics leaned confidently into high-energy anthems this year, weaving EDM into moments that traditionally favor orchestral or cinematic tunes. Instead of sweeping strings, fans were greeted with pulsing beats and festival-ready hooks, giving the competition a modern edge that resonated far beyond the arena.
French ice dance duo Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud delivered one of the most memorable routines of the event, skating to a mashup of Daft Punk’s “Around the World” and Eiffel 65’s “I’m Blue (Da Ba Dee).” The pairing of two iconic European dance tracks transformed the ice into something closer to a club floor, blending sharp choreography with instantly recognizable beats. Their eighth-place finish ahead of the Feb.11 Free Dance competition did little to overshadow the cultural moment their music created. They also skated to “Satisfaction” by Benny Benassi, bringing another unmistakable club classic to Olympic ice.
EDM’s presence extended beyond competition programs. Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child” echoed through the venue during skater introductions, heightening anticipation with its emotional build and arena-sized chorus.
The Closing Ceremony continued the electronic theme, featuring performances by Major Lazer and Gabry Ponte. Together, the soundtrack choices signaled a broader evolution for the Olympics. At Milano Cortina, EDM helped define the tone of the Games, proving that precision sport and pulse-raising music can share the same stage.
The clip quickly made the rounds on Facebook, where the comment section lit up with excitement. “This always makes you wonder the person raving next to you could be a doctor, a teacher, a figure skater”, one user wrote. Another added, “EDM has made it to the Olympics!!!!!” A third chimed in with, “Hope they got the gold medal just on song choice alone.”
