Native Instruments enters bankruptcy proceedings in Germany
Native Instruments’ bankruptcy marks a critical moment for one of electronic music’s most influential technology companies.
For over twenty years, Native Instruments tools like Traktor, Maschine, Kontakt, and Komplete have become staples for DJs and producers worldwide. Their products are present in studios, clubs, and on festival stages, shaping the sound of modern electronic music.
The insolvency process allows Native Instruments to continue operating while reorganizing its finances. The company has emphasized that this is not a shutdown, and software updates, support, and product development are set to continue during restructuring.

In a statement released on January 29, 2026, Nick Williams, CEO of Native Instruments, addressed the situation directly. He reassured users that business continues as usual not only at Native Instruments, but also across iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx. Hardware and software products remain available, downloads and activations are unaffected, and teams across support, engineering, and partnerships are still working day to day.
Williams confirmed that Native Instruments GmbH and three German non-operating holding companies have entered a formal pre-insolvency process. He stated that the aim is stability and long-term sustainability. Williams also reaffirmed the company’s mission to support creators.
The situation highlights ongoing challenges in music technology. Rising development costs, increased competition, and new subscription models continue to reshape how artists access creative tools.
For users, questions about ongoing support and updates are natural. The company states that core operations will continue, and German insolvency proceedings are intended to protect essential business functions. Native Instruments maintains a strong position with its technology, catalog, and dedicated global community.
