Sofi Tukker Tops US Dance Radio Charts with Steamy NY Anthem

US Dance Radio Charts arise Sofi Tuckker’s Swealtering NY Mantra, ‘Summer in New York,’ to the top. 

Sofi Tukker’s ‘Summer in New York’ off their sophomore album ‘Wet Tennis‘ climbs to number one on the US Dance Radio Charts. The New York duo took to Instagram to share their amazing news. The caption read, “NEW YORK WE DID ITTTTT!!!! SUMMER IN NY IS #1 on United States Dance Radio thank you to everyone!! Three years in a row with a #1!!! this song is just picking up steam can’t wait to see where this goes!!!”

Summer in New York‘ begins with a familiar beat taken from Suzanne Vega‘s hit ‘Tom’s Diner‘ originally released in 1984. The sample is a perfect selection the song is in admiration of the iconic New York restaurant, Tom’s Restaurant in Morningside Heights since the 1940s by the Greek-American family of Minas Zoulis.

That familiar chorus from the original song echoes throughout the track,  “da da da da da” keeping the hypnotic beat. The song details a day in New York enchanting the listener with the multitude of possibilities the city holds. Starting on 2nd avenue and ending the evening near Chinatown after a day of adventure. 

The official music video was released earlier this summer in June on Ultra Music. The music video embodies the infectious energy of the song while mirroring the lyrics. They hop on the subway to Bang Bang, next people-watching, and after sitting at Tom’s Restaurant for lunch. Lastly gazing at the city skyline at night captures, “The serendipity of summer in New York.” 

Primarily the song is a homage to the city of New York. Throughout the song stopping by favorite spots in the city such as Bang Bang, Miss Favela, and The Box, “And so we head to Miss Favela for the live music at three.”  The endless possibilities of a city filled with nightlife, diversity, self-expression, and deep history dates back to 1664. 

Nonetheless, they shared a reel the same day on Instagram showcasing performances from their current tour. Additionally, they expressed their joy and gratitude for their fans, “#1 US DANCE RADIO THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.” Indeed Sofie Tukker’s musical expression ripples through their fans There are still many dates left on their tour for fans to experience.
