Daft Punk Returns with Ominous Instagram Posts After Splitting Up Last Year

The original pioneers of electronic dance music, Daft Punk, has found a way to reinvigorate fans with a series of five cryptic Instagram posts.

On the one-year anniversary of their grand split, Daft Punk marked their return to social media with a few brief posts. Slowly revealing more information as each post was shared, the duo first released a link to their Twitch, where they shared footage from a 1997 helmetless concert in Los Angeles.

The live stream lasted briefly on Twitch before disappearing, without any trace of ever being shared again. The footage shown included a fuzzy, quick-cut, and absolutely amazing. Even watching just a few moments of the stream was enough to transport viewers to the grimey, yet still historic, Mayan Theatre.

Following the excitement that buzzed from the stream, the duo posted one final photo announcing that the 25th-anniversary edition of their famed, ‘Homework’ LP on vinyl is now available for preorder. Joining its rerelease will be ‘Alive ‘97,’ the first live album from the infamous robotic artists. Both are now available for preorder on Amazon and are set for release on April 15th.

By simply glancing over the comments of their posts, it’s easy to feel the overwhelming sense of excitment from both new and old Daft Punk fans. A familiar face in the scene, Madeon, showed his excitement with a simple, “Bonjour.” And of course, we can’t forget the hundreds who just freaked when they saw Daft Punk return to their feed again.

As for what’s to come of this, we don’t really know. Many are hoping that this spark in activity will mean a surprise tour. But even if fans can’t ever get to see them perform live again, just knowing that there is something new to remember their legacy is sufficient enough.
