5 Okeechobee Undercard Acts You Don’t Want To Miss – [Read]

With Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival right around the corner, it’s time to get in tune with the festival’s famous mantra, “Be Here Now.” Plus, now is the time to start getting excited to see your favorite artists under the mystifying Okeechobee moonlight.

Okeechobee Fest has booked what’s arguably their strongest undercard yet, represented by various genres such as experimental bass, dubstep, house, funk, and more. Names like Of The Trees, Mindchatter, and Kaivon are just a few you won’t want to miss, and here’s why.

A Hundred Drums

Gabrielle Watson, better known as A Hundred Drums, is one of the most sought-after up-and-coming bass artists of the year. The Deadbeats mainstay has joined as support for some of the biggest names in EDM, including Zeds Dead, G Jones, and Rezz.

In addition to a slot at Okeechobee, A Hundred Drums is slated to play major festivals such as Electric Forest, Ultra Miami, and Bonnaroo. She will also impressively be joining Rezz for several stops on her Spiral Tour.

A Hundred Drums has gained a following for her mind-bending, genre-defiant soundscapes, as well as the jaw-dropping visual experience she’s been known to deliver. Okeechobians can expect a fusion of dubstep, experimental bass, reggae, and psytrance.

Of The Trees

Making his long-awaited Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival debut is Denver-based DJ and producer, Of The Trees. Recently having wrapped up a run on Clozee’s Neon Jungle Tour, Of The Trees is a champion of underground bass music. You might recognize his more popular tracks, “Spanish Moss” or “Honeydust,” but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Putting his own soulful spin on underground bass in his releases and live sets, Of The Trees is fully equipped with both bangers and tear-jerkers.

Mindchatter

New York City-based singer, songwriter, DJ, and producer Mindchatter exploded into the scene in 2019 with his debut single, “Trippy.” He’s kept the momentum going strong with countless releases on Mind of a Genius, home to legendary artists like Zhu and Gallant.

The multi-faceted musician has done several remixes for industry leaders like Channel Tres and Tchami but has especially gained notoriety for his whimsical originals and mixes. Mindchatter creates a playful and uplifting atmosphere through his music, a sound that feels perfectly compatible with Okeechobee’s airy vibe.

Abelation

Okeechobee Fest historically enlists first-in-class underground bass acts, with Abelation being no exception. The rising LA-based star released his debut EP at the age of 14, and now at 19, has a massive body of work to show for.

As a member of the Lost Dogz family, Ablelation runs in the same circle as experimental heavy hitters like Eazybaked, Milano, Vide, and Untitld. Although he’s been solidifying his place in the underground bass scene on music streaming platforms for many years now, he’s more recently secured major bookings.

2021 saw the release of his Absolution EP, a compilation of the most spine-chilling beats known to humankind. Okeechobians should prepare to be turned inside out during Abelation’s highly-anticipated set.

Kaivon

Kaivon isn’t new to the scene, but he’s been garnering tons of attention lately for his remixes of popular tunes such as “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals and Paramore’s “Misery Business.” However, there’s more to Kaivon than his viral Tik Tok remixes.

He recently wrapped up his headlining You’ll Never Be Alone Tour and closed out the New Year with an inspiring performance at Countdown NYE. Kaivon’s thoughtful blend of melodic dubstep and future bass brings feel-good energy to every stage he graces, making Okeechobee Fest one of the best places to experience his musical magic.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
