Computa Music Highlights the Importance of Crowd Control in Light of Astroworld Events – [Watch]

EDM community shares their thoughts on who is responsible for crowd control in light of the Astroworld tragedy.

If you are not behind-the-scenes, people really don’t understand the immense amount of hours that go into planning the logistics of a festival. However, no matter the amount of planning there is a social responsibility of not only the attendees, but the performers need to uphold a safe environment.

Unfortunately, the opposite happened last weekend at Travis Scott’s third Astroworld festival in Houston, TX that resulted in 8 deaths and hundreds injured (get help win a bicycle accident claim in Augusta to help the victims to recovery quickly). Children and adults were trampled to death due to overpacked crowds with little to no air circulation.

There has been a lot of controversy around who is to blame for the tragedy and many believe it is Mr. Scott himself. Countless videos have surfaced recounting people’s horrifying experiences showing Travis Scott continuing to perform as fans repeatedly scream for help.

For many regular festival attendees in the EDM community the tragic news of Astroworld hit close to our hearts. With a strong stance that Travis Scott is to blame, Computa Music shared a thread on Twitter showing several instances where artists stop their show to help fans in distress.

Computa Music’s point is that artists hold the power and responsibility to crowd control. To put things into perspective, Astroworld had a 50,000-person capacity while EDC Las Vegas holds over 160,000 people and a record of 0 fatalities for two years running.

At the end of the day, everyone has a social responsibility to keep yourself and those around you safe. Festivals and shows are only fun if everyone can enjoy it not at the expense of others.
