Mize Reveals Mind-Bending ‘Balancing Act’ EP on SSKWAN – [Listen]

The 6-track EP marks the experimental bass artist’s return to Liquid Stranger’s SSKWAN label and acts as a continuation of a hot new music streak.

Earlier this year, the Mize made his debut on SSKWAN, WAKAAN’s downtempo counterpart, with “Satori” alongside Super Future. Just last August, Mize debuted his craft on WAKAAN with “Thought Process” and dropped a follow-up 5-track EP of the same name last November.

The Alabama-based producer and DJ now returns to the label with an entire collection of soul-stirring bass music. The compilation previews his robust grip on sound design and versatile production capabilities. As ‘Balancing Act’ unfolds into a carefully situated series of tracks, the musician takes hold of his audience and propels them through a sonic escapade.

“Balancing Act is both a call back to some of the sounds and places that made this project come together in the beginning as well as a foreshadow of the new ideas, techniques, and themes I’ve been diving into as of late,” Ian Evans A.K.A Mize shares. “Constantly as I grow older I notice that many aspects of my life are endless periods of balancing many things whether they be relationships, work, leisure, time, and even things as simple as taking care of your own body. I find that sometimes being an artist can be a Balancing Act of adopting new ideas while also attempting to keep the essence of what brought me here alive.”

After officially launching the Mize project in 2017, Evans quickly rose to fame as fans were captivated by his exceptional live performances and fascinating mixture of melodic dubstep, ambient downtempo, and heavy bass sounds. His Spotify page now boasts nearly 40k monthly listeners and counting.

Mize is currently scheduled to take the stage at various festivals this fall, including Sound Haven, Imagine Music Festival, Electric Zoo: Supernaturals, and Evolutions Festival. He will also be joining Peekaboo’s Black Hole Tour and Champagne Drip’s Champagne Trip for several stops.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
