The Chainsmokers and Marshmello Make Forbes

Forbes just released their list for highest paid celebrities in 2020, and some of our favorite EDM family made the cut. Although the number one spot was credited to Kylie Jenner, with a whopping $590 million of reported earnings last year (largely due to makeup mogul Coty purchasing a major portion of Kylie Cosmetics equity), The Chainsmokers managed to make the list at #21 with $68 million and Marshmello followed suit with $56 million. Although those numbers appeared to be light years away from the self-made Kardashian, Kanye West claimed the #2 spot with only $170 million. Kylie led the pack by more than 300 million – better luck next year, boys!

According to Forbes, The Chainsmokers earned most of their funds via their World War Joy Tour, which played at thousand-seater arenas and festivals all across the country, as well as their large equity stake in “JaJa Tequila,” a position reportedly large enough to make them the company’s biggest non-founding shareholders.

Meanwhile Marshmello kept busy prior to corona, playing at venues all across the globe, from Canada to South Korea. He also opened at Las Vegas’ Kaos Dayclub and Nightclub last April as the kickstart to a two-year residency deal worth $60 million, however, the residency was short-lived. Kaos closed a mere eight months after opening due to corona, possibly cutting his actual take-home short.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
