JOHN SUMMIT REIMAGINES PARACHUTE YOUTH’S CLASSIC WITH “BETTER THAN THIS” – [LISTEN]
JOHN SUMMIT TEAMS UP WITH PARACHUTE YOUTH TO ADD NEW FLAVOR TO “CAN’T GET “BETTER THAN THIS”
Chicago’s John Summit has been on a steady incline. From his single “Deep End,” which debuted on Defected Records, Summit gleaned more than 27 million streams across multiple platforms, earning him the honor of Beatport’s longest-running #1 of the year. As Summit continues to climb that ladder of success, he has teamed up with the Australian duo Parachute Youth to re-imagine their classic hit “Can’t Get Better Than This.”
When speaking on the collaboration, John Summit commented, “I’ve been a huge fan of Sweat It Out for years so when they reached out to me about working with Australian-based Parachute Youth it was a no-brainer! The combination of their smooth vocals and synth work along with my house music sound clicked instantly.”

Johnny from Parachute Youth commented, “To see the song that started my music career come out again after its first release a decade ago, is truly exciting and can’t wait to see where it goes a second time around!” Johnny’s counterpart Mat furthered the conversation with, “This track means just as much to Johnny and I as the day it was first played on triple j here in Oz, ‘Can’t Get Better Than This’ and subsequent releases gave us a touring career and fans worldwide who still message us to this day.”
Although Parachute Youth split in 2014 due to artistic differences, both Mat and Johnny went on to have fantastic, independent careers, furthering Parachute Youth’s story in a unique way. Mat released “Fast Apache” via Medium Rare Recordings and Johnny dropped a slew of music as well, most notably originals under Yeah Boy and as collaborations with Liam Payne (One Direction), Icona Pop, Sonny Fodera, Sigala, Joel Corry, Raye, and many more.
Despite their success and prolificacy as individuals, this mini reunion, fostered by Summit, undoubtedly hit the spot and revitalized a much appreciated classic, perhaps opening minds to the possibilities of future collaborations.
