INSOMNIAC FURLOUGHS HALF OF ITS STAFF DUE TO PANDEMIC
Undoubtedly, Insomniac is a major force within the electronic music industry. They’re a leader in promotions and events, and they champion major festivals such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Beyond Wonderland, and Okeechobee. Insomniac’s CEO and poster boy Pasquale Rotella, a 45-year-old EDM vet, has been exceptionally vocal throughout the pandemic, issuing official statements to fans and patrons via Twitter and Instagram regarding refunds and livestreams. Insomniac has been a pioneer in terms of livestream events, rolling out weekly, if not nightly, livestreams such as “Insomniac REWIND” and their new “Rave-a-thon” series, all available to stream via YouTube and Twitch.

According to Billboard, however, not all is well. With billions of dollars worth of gross revenue lost, something was bound to give. Although Insomniac may be fast at work, cranking out livestreams with fervor and ostensibly as busy as ever, they have furloughed more than half of their staff. Thankfully, their furloughed employees will reportedly retain their health benefits, although that same assurance cannot be said for the hundreds, if not thousands, of contractors, promoters, and performers employed during festival production.
