Solid Grooves backs Venezuela relief efforts through Sun.Risas partnership

After the devastation caused by two massive earthquakes in late June, Solid Grooves shows support for local Venezuelans through a philanthropic partnership with the relief fund Sun.Risas.

Solid Grooves is stepping up for Venezuela. The dance label is partnering with Sun.Risas, a Venezuelan relief organization, to support recovery efforts following the two devastating earthquakes that hit the country in late June. The pair of earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck northern Venezuela, causing widespread damage across Trujillo, Carabobo, Aragua, Miranda, La Guaira, and the capital, Caracas.

Sadly, more than 3,500 people were killed, over 16,700 injured, and nearly 18,000 displaced as recovery efforts continue over the past few weeks since the devastation. Solid Grooves resident artists Miguelle & Tons, both from Venezuela, decided to donate their full performance fee from the label’s July 2 party at DC-10 in Ibiza. Beyond that, Solid Grooves and DC-10 each contributed an additional share of the event’s proceeds, with all funds going directly to the Sun.Risas relief fund and its work to rebuild the lives, homes, and cities of those impacted.

The label shared the news on Instagram, calling the crisis “deeply personal” given how many members of their extended family call Venezuela home. It says a lot that Miguelle & Tons chose to give up their own fee for this, and it is the kind of gesture that actually moves the needle instead of just posting a black square and calling it a day. Following suit, Club Space chose to match donations made through its Dice platform to the Global Empowerment Network. It is a heavy moment for a country that means so much to so many, and it is genuinely moving to see labels like Solid Grooves and iconic venues like DC-10 and Space put real money and action to help the people affected.
