Chai Chang pays tribute to CoCo Lee with inspiring new electropop bop ‘Music Warrior’

Chinese singer-dancer Chai Chang has released his second single, ‘Music Warrior,’ encouraging listeners to “never back down from the climb.”

Just over one year after his debut single, “New Reality,” independent singer-dancer Chai Chang has finally released his long-awaited follow-up, “Music Warrior.” The Hong Kong native and Australia-based artist created the song to pay respect to his musical muse, internationally renowned singer-songwriter Coco Lee, who passed away in July 2023. An energetic electropop track, “Music Warrior” pays homage to CoCo by channeling the inspiration that she has provided for Chai as he traverses his musical journey.

“[Coco Lee] was widely regarded as a significant figure and a diva in C-Pop. I was fortunate enough to have met her in person on several occasions and attended her concerts in the past. Her smile, energy and music talent inspire me to stay strong and positive,” says Chang.

Growing up in Hong Kong, Chai faced traditional pressures to focus on academics to obtain a career in a secure, high-salary profession like medicine, law, or finance. After following that route for a long portion of his life, he finally decided to pursue his life-long love of music. “Music Warrior” is about this journey, overcoming barriers to reach what one wants, and staying confident and positive all the while.

“This song is specifically designed where listeners can keep looping it and feeling the strong emotions,” says Chang. “With my obsession and determination with music, I hope the audience can feel my passion and share my enthusiasm. I will continue to strive for improvements, not letting my audience down.”

Released along with “Music Warrior” is its music video which features contemporary dance in three bold outfits and three striking settings. “I believe this music video is something exceptional in the local music industry. It highlights the dance choreography as well as the unique power and energy of the song.”

“Music Warrior” represents an early milestone in Chai Chang’s musical career as he tells his story and pays homage to his idol Coco Lee with a gripping new single.
