Henri Bergmann’s ‘How To Get Lost’ Collaboration with Wennink drops on Automatik
Henri Bergmann and Wennink team up to release “How to Get Lost” on Bergman’s Label, Automatik.
The husband-and-wife team Henri Bergmann and Wennink have teamed up to create a powerhouse track released on Bergmann‘s Automatik label. “How To Get Lost” is the first single off the upcoming 15-track Automatik release, V2: Interstellar.
This is not the first time the husband and wife duo have paired up to release a banger. Bergmann and Wennink released “Guardian Angel” on Crosstown Rebels as a prelude to this heavier track. “We wanted to do something dark, driving, and a bit grittier, incorporating some of my favorite elements of the scene,” says Bergmann and Wennink.
The creative process was a team effort, “It was all about finding the hooks—the rising lead melody and its bassier response—and building the track around those and the vocal. In a way, the track is a bit of a fond farewell to that melodic drama, as all the tracks we’ve been making since are different in their sound.” Exploring the theme of controlling and surrendering, the track takes control of the airwaves and listeners surrender. The analogy takes hold of the trancelike state an artist can bring a crowd to while on stage; keeping the crowd in submission while they free their minds.
The hook of the track sung by Wennink plays with the tension of letting go while remaining in control. He sings, “how to get lost without losing it,” an enthralling hook that emulates and serves as a powerful hook that captures the adventure release, and acceptance of the foreign future. Getting lost in a crowd or within yourself while experiencing the melodies, basslines, and music synths is hard at play in “How To Get Lost.”
While people agree that being lost is intimidating, “Getting lost is an exciting thing to do…” says Wennink. The unknown heightens your senses, and there’s an element of danger,” says Wennink. Curiosity is something we crave and why dance and music fans alike flock to shows, festivals, and their headphones, it is to distance themselves from reality even if just for a few hours. “How To Get Lost” is a magnetic track that teases the idea of reality and how to escape the mundane.
