TikTok announces new Electronic Music hub as genre skyrockets on the platform

Tik Tok has announced the launch of a new global Electronic Music hub in recognition of the genre’s growth worldwide.

Coinciding with the 2024 edition of Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), Tik Tok has made a big announcement for electronic music on their platform. The company is officially launching their global Electronic Music hub, providing a central location for all content related to the genre in all corners of the world. The launch began as of October 21st and the new hub is continuing to roll out in countries such as the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, USA, and Australia.

Tik Tok’s announcement comes as the growth of electronic music on the platform is at an all-time high. Video creations with the #ElectronicMusic tag are up 70% year-on-year, with #Trance up 73%, #Techno up 63%, and #DnB up 50%. Countless artists have contributed to this huge rise in popularity, including European legend Dimitri Vegas, English drum and bass icons Chase & Status, French techno star Amelie Lens, and even the ‘BRAT’ mastermind herself, Charli XCX

“Electronic music has made its spiritual home on TikTok,” says Ole Olbermann, the company’s global head of music business development. “It’s the perfect place for artists to showcase their creativity through both music and visuals, and fans are sharing their love for the genre by remixing sounds, driving trends, and posting clips from their favorite live sets, which are then watched and shared in their millions by the global TikTok community.”

With the launch of this new global hub, Tik Tok hopes to propel their electronic music surge to even greater heights as more and more creators share content with each other from anywhere. Only time will tell what effect that this move may ultimately have on the worldwide electronic music community as a whole.
