John Summit DJs at famous Chicago hot dog spot Portillo’s

John Summit has thrown an epic pop-up ahead of his upcoming Chicago shows at the famous hot dog spot, Portillo’s.

Chicago native and house music sensation John Summit took a detour from the usual club scene, spinning an impromptu set at the iconic Portillo’s hot dog restaurant ahead of his sold-out performances at Northerly Island this weekend. The DJ, who recently dropped his debut album, ‘Comfort in Chaos’, surprised fans in his hometown with a special pop-up at the legendary Chicago-style hot dog location.

Portillo’s, a staple of Chicago’s food culture, provided a fitting backdrop for the surprise event. The chain, which has been a local favorite since its founding in 1963, is known for its Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs loaded with mustard, onions, pickles, and sport peppers, and its nostalgic diner vibes. So, of course, it holds as a perfect location for pop up for a Chicago native.

The legend himself, John Summit, grew up in the suburbs of Chicago so any time he returned home he needed to do it big. He has long been vocal about his love for the city and its influence on his music. So, with his career skyrocketing in recent years, headlining festivals across the globe, this weekend marks a homecoming of sorts. His back-to-back shows this weekend at Northerly Island are among the most anticipated events on the Chicago music calendar, with both nights selling out in record time.

Fans from all over have flocked to the Windy City, eager to experience the energy Summit brings to the decks. With the help of event collective, House Calls, John was able to throw an epic pop-up ahead of his full production shows this weekend. In true Chicago fashion, his set at Portillo’s blended tracks from his latest album and tracks from his record label, Experts Only

I have been writing for Exron Music for around eight months now and cannot wait to see what is to come throughout the years. At festivals and clubs, you will find me at any house and techno stage supporting my favorites Eli Brown or Dom Dolla, or belting every word to Porter Robinson tracks wherever he performs.
