Peggy Gou mourns death of grandfather just months after loss of grandmother

It’s been a tragic year for Peggy Gou as her grandparents have passed away just two months apart from each other. 

Peggy Gou turns to Instagram to post a photo of her grandparents holding hands, leaving a touching tribute to her Grandfather who just passed. She notes “Sleep well Grandpa, you can be in internal peace with Grandma now. I love you my guardian angels. Keep watching over me”. 

It never gets easier saying goodbye to a loved one, and death of a spouse at old age can contribute to broken heart syndrome. Peggy Gou’s grandmother had also passed away earlier this year in July, only two months apart. Peggy Gou instantly received profound support from artists like Diplo, Disclosure, and more, as well as from her devoted fans, friends, and family.

Following her grandmother’s passing in July, Peggy Gou decided to cancel her tour. The disheartening news put a temporary halt on her performances, making her decision a blessing in disguise following the recent news about her grandfather’s passing.

Peggy Gou has expressed how significant the role her family plays in her life is to her. While it’s been a rough couple of months for the esteemed musician and DJ, she’s found solace in knowing that she now has two beautiful guardian angels watching over her.

Peggy Gou is a Korean DJ, singer, songwriter, and record producer based in Berlin. She is the first Korean female to play at Berghain. Peggy Gou has released a total of seven EPs since she started creating music in 2014 and has been learning to DJ since 2009. 

Hitting a decade long career, the artist is just getting started. Her 2023 release ‘(It Goes Like) Nanana‘ topped the charts and went viral. She also just released her first album, ‘I Hear You’, on XL recordings. The star is breaking barriers and is being recognized as a global sensation.
