Watch the rave-inspired opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games

Lady Gaga recreates Zizi Jeanmaire’s 1965 performance from The Ed Sullivan Show.

The 2024 Summer Olympics began just this past Friday, and we’ve already witnessed memorable moments from top music stars like Lady Gaga, Celine Dion, Beyoncé, and others. The excitement started with the Opening Ceremony, featuring all-French performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion at iconic Paris landmarks, and a Team USA introduction by Beyoncé. Since then, we’ve seen musical highlights including Taylor Swift’s song “Ready For It?” in an NBC Olympics ad, Snoop Dogg serving as an NBC commentator, Flavor Flav acting as the official sponsor and hype man for women’s water polo, and Stray Kids accompanying Mexican gymnast Alexa Moreno’s floor routine.

In an Instagram post, Lady Gaga expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and paid tribute to Jeanmaire. She also shared her love for France and its culture.

“Although I am not a French artist, I have always felt a very special connection with French people and singing French music—I wanted nothing more than to create a performance that would warm the heart of France, celebrate French art and music, and on such a momentous occasion remind everyone of one of the most magical cities on earth—Paris,” she wrote in her caption.

The 2024 Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony was a historic event. Instead of in a traditional stadium, it took place on the Seine River. Organizers created a makeshift stadium in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, where French President Emmanuel Macron and IOC President Thomas Bach gave remarks. The Olympic cauldron was also officially lit at the Louvre after a number of athletes carried it.

Lastly, be sure to tune into the 2024 Summer Olympic Games live from Paris. The games are set to run until August 11 with plenty of competition to come.

My name is Sebastian Medina and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Ever since I could remember, I have always been in love with dance music. I appreciate all genres and sub-genres but I definitely gravitate towards house and techno. Being from LA I was blessed with an amazing nightlife full of different artists coming in and out of town throughout the years. Some of my favorite artists include Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi, Mr.Carmack, PAWSA, and Folamour.
