Is Kamala Harris collaborating with Charlie XCX for her presidential campaign?

Charlie XCX voices her support for Kamala Harris on an X post saying “Kamala IS brat”.

Brat summer is now in full effect. New Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is receiving heavy support following Charlie XCX’s recent Tweet, “kamala IS brat,” embracing the newest presidential nominee on X (formerly Twitter.) Kamala responds by taking the English artist’s album cover and displaying it on her social media platform. Since this iconic moment, memes about Kamala Harris and Charlie XCX have been flooding the internet.

To put this into context, President Biden dropped out of the campaign this past Sunday. Following her endorsement to run as the new Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala has launched her campaign and is now artistically collaborating with Charlie XCX. Hitting the Gen Z audience right on the nose, Kamala is starting off her campaign strong. Now what exactly did Charli XCX mean in her Tweet?

The singer and songwriter released her album ‘BRAT’ earlier this summer, and that’s where the term “brat summer” stems from. Charli XCX posts on TikTok what it really means to be a brat: “just like that girl who is a little messy and likes to party and maybe says some dumb things sometimes, who feels herself, but then also maybe has a breakdown, but kind of parties through it, is very honest, a little bit volatile.”

Is this movement describing Kamala Harris as a messy option? Or is this collaboration so relatable and brilliant that this is truly a great way to earn voters, specifically from the younger generation? The campaign has brought in more than 100 million dollars and is breaking records for the most amount of money received in 24 hours. It looks like things are working in her favor.

While releasing music consistently over the years, Charli XCX is breaking through the underground with the release of ‘BRAT’ and is truly in her brat era. She is scheduled to kick off her upcoming North American album tour in Detroit this September and conclude in San Francisco in December, extending “brat summer” until the end of 2024.

In the U.S., ‘BRAT’ landed at number three in the charts, her highest-debuting album to date. She also gained recent popularity across the board all thanks to her Boiler Room set from February where she presents PARTYGIRL in Brooklyn, NY. Following the worldwide phenomenon of “brat summer,” it’s no surprise she has such an impact and is now encouraging those to vote accordingly for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
