Zayn reveals new album Room Under The Stairs inspired by his breakup from Gigi Hadid
Multi-platinum recording artist ZAYN has released his highly anticipated fourth studio album, Room Under the Stairs, via Mercury Records.
For the past six years, ZAYN has been meticulously crafting Room Under the Stairs at his home studio in rural Pennsylvania. The album reflects his current life stage, exploring themes of healing, stillness, and growth. It features ZAYN’s soulful vocals, live instrumentation, and poetic lyricism, showcasing his evolution as an artist. This album, co-produced with Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb, marks ZAYN’s most personal project to date.
Accompanying the album release is the official music video for the track “Stardust,” directed by Frank and Ivanna Borin. The video depicts ZAYN on a journey of memory and mystery, guided by falling stars. The visual metaphorically explores themes of identity, vulnerability, and the quest for belonging.
ZAYN made his first-ever solo live performance at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, with tickets having sold out immediately. He performed selections from Room Under the Stairs following the premiere of his documentary Road Back To The Mic. ZAYN made his first TV performance in eight years on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on May 21, and he recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to discuss the new album.
ZAYN has expressed his deep connection to this album, stating, “This is my favorite album that I’ve made to date, mainly because it comes from a place of sheer honesty and vulnerability. I wanted each song to feel as if it was just me sitting beside you, telling you how I feel, singing directly to you. It’s raw and stripped back and the type of music I always hoped to make.”
Producer Dave Cobb praised ZAYN’s vocal prowess and emotional depth, noting, “ZAYN has really created his own universe on this record. He has no fear and is speaking straight from his soul.”
Room Under the Stairs is available now in various formats, including several exclusive vinyl editions, cassettes, and CDs. Fans can listen to the album now and watch the “Stardust” music video online.
