Inside the Drake and Kendrick Lamar Beef

A rap battle between Drake and Kendrick Lamar got really deep and personal as their rivalry aimed to reveal their true colors this time.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar have been roasting each other consistently for the past few months, but the rap battle started to heat up recently for a week-long period that got everyone’s attention. The two came out with multiple tracks specifically to diss the other and make claims about their characters.

The main culprit that really stirred up the pot first was when J. Cole referred to himself, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar as “the big three” of hip-hop/rap in“First Person Shooter” with Drake in October 2023. Kendrick Lamar got extremely offended over being considered on the same level as Drake and slammed him with multiple back-to-back diss tracks with extreme claims that he was a predator and had a daughter.

The big three reference comes from the lyrics: “Love when they argue the hardest MC. Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.” K. Dot means Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s birth name is Aubrey Graham.

On March 22, Kendrick Lamar burned Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That.” He rapped, “The big three? It’s just big me.” Drake responded on April 13 with “Push Ups” and said, “You ain’t in no Big Three, SZA got you wiped down, Travis got you wiped down, Savage got you wiped down.” Other diss tracks from Drake include “Taylor Made Free Style,” and “ Family Matters.”

Kendrick Lamar slapped back hard with a six-and-a-half-minute track, “Euphoria” on April 30 where he insulted Drake’s style, racial identity, parenting, and how he uses AI for music. Only three days later Kendrick Lamar dropped three tracks nearly simultaneously which is what had fans intrigued.

This includes “6:16 in LA” on May 3 and on May 4 Kendrick Lamar released two more tracks coming for Drake – “Meet the Grahams,” and “Not Like Us” which is where he claimed Drake’s house has sexual offender registrations. Most people agreed it was hard for Drake to make a comeback after Kendrick Lamar’s swift attack.
