Legendary Grateful Dead to Take Center Stage with Exclusive Las Vegas Sphere Residency

Grateful Dead and company grace the stage once again after their final tour concluded last year.

Coming off a final goodbye tour, Grateful Dead and Company never claimed to be finished performing on stage. Starting May 16th, the band will perform for eight weeks live at the Sphere in Las Vegas, concluding on July 13th. While the run was supposed to end in June, the Sphere announced six additional shows after the fan response.

The residency is called ‘Dead Forever’ and will feature “never-before-seen visual storytelling” with the Sphere’s LED screen stretching around the venue. While the Dead & Company’s final tour included Mickey Hart, Jay Lane, John Mayer, and Bob Weir, with Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti, the official lineup for the Sphere residency has yet to be announced.

The Sphere was announced in 2018 and designed by the architecture office Populous but opened to the public in 2023. The first show held was a residency by Irish rock band U2, which continued into a 40-date run series at the futuristic venue that will end in March.

In November 2023, the rock band Phish announced they would follow as the second act to perform at the 18,600-capacity venue. Over a four-night residency, the band promises to present fans with a “completely unique experience.”

At the end of their final tour last July, Weir suggested in a social media post that this was not the end for the band. He hinted fans should not, “worry we will all be out there in one form or another until we drop.” And with these new shows, fans can anticipate specially curated setlists at each performance.

While an artist presale launches on February 5th at 10 a.m. PT, the remaining tickets will be available on February 9th at 10 a.m. PT. More information about the upcoming shows is now available at Dead & Company‘s website.
