Yulia Niko Announces 10-Track Debut Studio Album Reflecting on her Father’s Death
Yulia Niko has announced that her debut album will explore her soul coming together after her father’s death.
Following her debut on Armada Music in August, the Berlin-based DJ and producer Yulia Niko announce her first album ‘TWINSOUL’, coming March 8, 2024. The 10-track project will explore her raw and experimental approach across vast house landscapes representing parts of her soul coming together after her father’s death.
Yulia has been DJing and collecting music since she was 15 and moved to New York in her twenties to study production. Now, the DJ travels around the globe, harnessing the transformative power of music into her sets at some of the world’s most prominent clubs and festivals.
Alongside the announcement, the DJ and producer released the album’s sixth single on her birthday, “Exito,” featuring vocals from Sil Romero. This album expands past Yulia’s signature sound of percussion-forward-styled tracks as she showcases new experimental and creative freedoms in her music that grief has shown her.
Aside from Sil Romero, Yulia collaborates with other artists on the album, such as Ost & Kjex, Carn Crua, Yotam Avni, Paul Brenning, and Moullinex. In the early stages of production, Yulia found photos of her father at a young age and realized their similarities, inspiring the album’s name. The album artwork reflects this vision, depicting two souls inherently linked.
While Yulia has been pursuing music since a young age, the artist spoke on her rising fame with her father not being here to see it. “My father questioned my career choice in music and wanted me to pursue a different, more traditional route,” says Yulia Niko. “Just as I began to achieve success, he passed away. This album is dedicated to my father because I want to show him that I’m a real, dedicated artist.”
The artist has a tour planned from January 20th to March 19th, which will mix the new album with her past hits. The tour will span the globe from France to Mexico to different states in the US.
