Get ready to dive into the world of Cody Chase’s music journey in 2023.

Exron Music: Can you share with us your personal top tracks or releases from this year, and what makes each of them special to you?

‘Illusion’ – Cody Chase was a special one to me because one of my heroes, a true legend of the game, Benny Benassi featured it in a special Insomniac 30 year anniversary mix.

My other favorite track was just released. It’s called ‘High As F*ck’ and it has been rising on the Beatport charts. As of now, it has gotten up to 24 on the Mainstream chart and is really special to me, because my team and I shot a music video for the track in Amsterdam while there for ADE.

Exron Music: Reflecting on the past year, which track, either by your own production or by another artist, do you feel has had the biggest impact on your career, and why?

This question is hard for me to answer. I don’t want to be corny and say one of my own. I will say this though… All of them. I started my radio show, The Chase, at the beginning of the year. On it, I masterfully mix on average 25 tracks per hour. And with a few exceptions (including my own tracks) I haven’t repeated really any tracks. By my estimations, that’s 1100+ individual tracks I’ve played.

Exron Music: Were there any unexpected or surprising moments related to the tracks on your list, whether they are your own or by other artists? Any unexpected fan reactions or collaborations that stood out?

It was surreal to see my track ‘Illusion’ being played by Benny Benassi on Insomniac 30th anniversary guest mix. Kind of crazy that my childhood DJ hero started spinning my tracks. And that wasn’t the only track that he spun.

Exron Music: Can you take us behind the scenes and describe the creative process or inspiration behind one of your personal releases that made it to your top list?

I’m very proud of a track that didn’t do so well in the streaming game, but always dominates in the club. ‘Slinger’ always shreds the club, but didn’t do as well as we would’ve hoped on the streaming services. That is to be expected though, because the track is 6+ minutes long doesn’t have any words and it’s a Techno club banger. The streaming services tend to favor, shorter three-minute tracks that have words lol.

Exron Music: Can you share a track by another artist that you discovered this year and felt a deep connection to? What drew you to that particular piece of music?

I would say that Sebastiaan Hooft made a big impact on me this year. He has been going absolutely ham in the studio all year long, and I’ve actually spun many of his records in my sets, and my radio show we got to spend quite a bit of time together in Amsterdam, his hometown, during Amsterdam Dance Event, where we became good friends, he’s such a nice guy and a talented Producer, I know it’s a relationship that we will both carry-on for many, many years.

Exron Music: Are there any particular musical influences or experiences from the year that you believe are reflected in your selection of top tracks, whether they are your own or by other artists?

Ultra, 2023, Carl Cox’s DJ set. I always come away from Friday and Saturday night with tons of inspiration. You can hear that reflected in my radio shows that were released around that time.

Exron Music: Can you share any memorable anecdotes or stories related to the creation or performance of one of your personal releases or a track by another artist on your top list?

I have a track that I am shopping around and still tweaking, that I’m planning for a 2024 release. Rinsing it out during my DJ sets has really showed me that it could be a truly special record. It was originally done with a vocal sample pulled from the pack, but the song is so powerful and the lyrics, so great that I’m working with a vocalist to redo them. Can’t wait to drop it next year.

Exron Music: Looking back on the year, do you notice any common themes or motifs that run through your top tracks, or were they intentionally diverse in style and sound?

Yes, I always go for incredibly powerful and moving rave tracks. If it’s Techno, Tech House or Bass, and it’s going to get asses shaking, then I’m playing it lol.

Exron Music: How do you feel your music has evolved or changed over the past year, and do your top tracks, whether they are your own or by other artists, represent this evolution in any way?

I think over the past year, I really starting to dial in my sound, which is an amalgamation of Techno beats, Tech, House, vocals and drums, always with a focus around a sick bassline. It’s a sound that I haven’t ever heard before, and don’t really hear being done yet so if anyone can help me think of a name for the genre, I’d appreciate that. Chase Techno? Chase Wreckno? Yeah, lol definitely gonna need some work on the genre name lol.

Exron Music: What message or emotions do you hope your audience takes away from your selection of top tracks, whether they are your own or by other artists, as they wrap up this year and move into the next?

I hope that they trust me with their auditory experiences and continue coming back to get slayed by my Techno sound. I take every new radio show and gig and use it as an opportunity to get better and improve. I think I’ve done that consistently throughout the entire year, Cody Chase 2024 will be coming on strong.

We thank Cody Chase for sharing his reflections on the year and his top tracks; 2023 was a year filled with new milestones and impressive releases for him, and as we look forward to 2024, we can’t wait to see what new musical heights he’ll reach.
