Exron Exclusive Interview: Malóne at III Points Miami

Shortly before his set at III Points Miami, Exron Music sat down for an interview with Malóne to learn about his recent accomplishments. With his rhythmic afro-house beats, Malóne is helping carve an exciting niche for Latin American DJs and musical profiles in the electronic space. Sharing how he’s managed it all while on the rise this year, Malóne gave us an exclusive look at a day in the life.

Growing up in Miami with a strong Cuban heritage, Malóne began nurturing his passion for music at the age of 10. After learning basic techniques from his DJ uncle, Malóne continued cultivating his skills through early piano lessons and music courses in college. Moreover, since he started producing music in 2012, the artist has managed to evolve creatively to incorporate a more underground sound.

In addition to landing a residency at Club Space, Malóne also completed a jam-packed European summer tour – including Pacha Barcelona. Furthermore, he shared imminent plans to start a label and breathe new life into the Miami music scene.

Boasting collaborations with icons like Blond:ish and Stephan Jolk, Malóne is already shaping up to have an impressive repertoire. Despite his growing notoriety, Malóne admits that weightlifting and spending time with family both help keep him grounded.  Not to mention, Malóne recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the family amid his numerous successes.

Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now a law school graduate, I eventually hope to merge my passions by working in music law. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list festivals to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and Sonus in Croatia. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Mochakk, Kevin de Vries, and Eli Brown.
