Nostalgix Recruits Rapper Rico Nasty for Monstercat Debut Single “WAR”
After teasing a collaboration last week, Nostalgix and Rico Nasty have released “WAR,” a bass house track created by two powerhouses from different genres.
“WAR” begins with a simple melody, electrifying beats, and Rico Nasty’s distinct vocals shining over the dark-toned bass house. Nostalgix creates 90s-inspired music, bringing underground rave vibes back to the scene. Released on Monstercat, “WAR” is continuing the DJ and rapper’s pattern of rising in an industry dominated by men.
The drop draws in all of the bass with low frequencies and a sense of empowerment. Nostalgix explained that the track encapsulates her evolution, saying, “I wanted to make a record that embodied power and drive. I wanted to make a record that you could blast and feel like you can take over the world.”
“…I wanted to bring a lot of elements of drama and energy to really bring power to the record…I absolutely love Rico, I think what she’s doing is so sick. She’s an artist that is so uniquely herself, she brings such a bad**s energy with all of her music and her performances,” Nostalgix continued.
Rico Nasty has dominated hip-hop for years, earning well-deserved success with tracks like “OHFR?” and “Smack A B***h.” Recently, she collaborated with Fred again.., Marshmello, and more. Her sugar trap blends well with Nostalgix’s instrumentals and vocals, creating a track that calls for resilience with the hook, “Go against me, that’s war.”
Nostalgix is coming off of a massive show at Monstercat Compound last month, so it is only right that her Monstercat debut is just as impactful. The producer, writer, and rapper has nowhere to go but up, and she is certainly rising to the occasion.
The dynamic artist has a handful of upcoming shows, including stops at Tomorrowland Brasil and Supernatural in Denver. For more information on performances, check out her official website. Listen to “WAR” by Nostalgix featuring Rico Nasty on any streaming platform here.
