John Summit Encourages Fans to File Taxes Despite Quitting Accounting Job to DJ

Chicago-born DJ John Summit is spreading some seasonal cheer, tax seasonal cheer. The former accountant shared on Twitter series of a posts imploring young people to avoid drugs and turn to filing their taxes instead! “Hey guys,” stated Summit. “Doing drugs isn’t cool. [You] know what is cool? Filing [your] individual income tax return by midnight to meet the IRS-approved deadline to avoid any future penalties -John Summit, CPA.” Well said, John. Well said.
Summit further specified that he was sharing some new merchandise promoting this mantra. “In honor of Tax Day, the ‘John Summit does my taxes’ tee is on sale for $20. Happy filing day friends!” Honestly, the T-shirt looks sick. It’s versatile, something to rock at the rave or on April 15th!
For greater context, Summit went to college at the University of Illinois, where he studied accounting. He then got his master’s before eventually passing the CPA, becoming a Certified Public Accountant, joining a Chicago-based firm, and going corporate. Looking back on it, he credited this career choice with inspiring him to eventually pursue DJing. Summit shared that his job was “so boring” and that he would “do anything…” to abort the mission, anything including “I’ll work my ass off to get out of this.”
When asked how he fell into accounting, he readily admitted that it was the “safe road.” He further elaborated, sharing with his audience how his mom started crying upon hearing the news that he quit. Summit is now an internationally recognized DJ who has played at top venues all over the world. His most recent noteworthy performance at Factory Town in Miami, Florida was rumored to be comparable to Ultra, the neighboring festival that weekend.
Although John’s mom was initially upset, we hope she’s wrist flickin’, Mercedes drivin’, and private jet flyin’ all over the world with our beloved Summit by her side!
