Redrum Discovers the Beauty of Transformation with New Five-Track EP “Butterfly Effect”
The witching hour is upon us: American DJ Redrum continues to exude mysticism and enchantment with her newest EP release, ‘Butterfly Effect.’
If you identify as a spiritual, holistic girly (or guy) that holds their crystals in one hand while headbanging to dubstep with the other, we’ve got just the new music for you: Enter ‘Butterfly Effect,’ the newest EP from Tatiana Tindall (better known as Redrum), which was released on WAKAAN this Friday, April 21.
The EP includes five tracks: ‘Colors,’ ‘Mania, Pt. 1,’ ‘Butterfly Effect,’ ‘Mania, Pt. 2,’ and ‘Burnout.’ Each builds upon one another, creating a beautiful sonic and spiritual metamorphosis (see why it’s aptly titled ‘Butterfly Effect’?) as the downtempo builds and filthy bass becomes ensnared in mystic beats. The tracks are cinematic in nature, which makes sense, considering Redrum’s stage name and overall musical presence are heavily inspired by Stephen King’s concept of ‘The Shining.’
Tindall has been an avid music lover since birth. Her father–a composer, musician, and DJ in his own right–inspired her early interest in the arts. As a child, Tindall found self-expression through dance; however, when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at seventeen, she was tragically forced to quit dancing due to bone and muscle damage from chemotherapy. Looking for another creative outlet to pour herself into, Redrum was born.
Since then, Redrum has slowly but surely been gaining recognition and a fanbase for her unique and bewitching sound. Her work is featured on multiple compilations including Excision’s ‘Subsidia Dawn: Vol. 2,’ Electric Hawk’s ‘In Unity,’ SSKWAN’s ‘Synergy,’ and Joeykane’s album ‘Underworld Lost Tapes.’
Meanwhile, the up-and-coming DJ has also been releasing solo work, including her debut EP ‘Pisces Moon,’ released in 2021 on the SSKWAN label, and ‘Chaos Theory,’ her second EP released the following year on WAKAAN. ‘Butterfly Effect’ continues to take the concepts developed by Redrum in her previous two EPs while simultaneously showing her maturation and development as an artist.
Between hitting the road as support for Liquid Stranger’s national tour and festival appearances at the likes of Hard Summer, Electric Zoo, Waakan Fest, Bass Canyon, and more, 2022 was a success story for the artist–and whether it’s due to astrology or her massive talent, Redrum’s star power will only continue to grow in 2023.
