Gordo Apologizes for Ministry of Sound Mishap and Offers Opener DJs Slot at Future Show
Following multiple complaints and controversy over a mishap with other DJs, Gordo has broken his silence on the situation at Ministry of Sound
Gordo, known previously as Carnage, is facing lots of negative attention following an incident at his show at Ministry of Sound on September 17th. Two up-and-coming DJs, Essel and Waze, were booked to perform at the club the same night, both excited for this gig. Unfortunately, they were left upset and confused when Gordo continued playing through their set times.
Following the incident, both took to social media to speak up about the mistreatment stating:
“Headline DJ refused to come off last night and the 2 acts after he lost our sets. I’m over a decade of playing I have honestly never seen this level of entitlement or arrogance” – Essel
“Felt for the artist liaison and no blame their way – but what a bizarre situation to be placed in. The said artist didn’t even acknowledge me just told the AL “I’m not f-ing coming off” – Waze
Fans were quick to solve the mystery of the “said artist” and went straight to the comments to address the issue. A few days following the incident, Gordo took to his social media page to tell his side. Gordo explained in his statement that his set times are diverse, ranging anywhere from three to ten hours. So, on that night when promoters gave him the thumbs up to keep playing, he continued his set. He stated in his post he was unaware that Waze and Essel were there ready to perform, claiming he thought they were only stand-by acts.
He did appear apologetic for the misunderstanding though stating “’ I’ve been in Waze and Essel’s shoes before tho and understand what a shitty spot they were put in”. He also closed his statement by offering both artists a chance to perform at future shows.
