Ship Wrek Revitalizes the Crowd at 45 East in Portland Oregon with Unreleased Tracks

Ship Wrek and support Dance Mom and Zookëper performed a sizzling show at one of Portland’s best rave venues, 45 East.

Ship Wrek blew me out of the water with their first show in Portland, OR at 45 East. I have seen many shows at 45 East but this is the first show that made me feel like I was in another location in the coolest way. In parallel with their group’s theme, I felt as if I was on a ship in a sea of captains’ hats with cool air on my face. Their amazing set was the perfect vacation at home.

The show opened with local DJ Dance Mom who played some classic EDM songs to warm up the night. Dance Mom has been the local artist for many tours that have come to Portland, including where I saw her last opening for Gorgon City. Her energy is always a great sendoff and this night was no exception.

Following Mom was Zookëper who set the mood for the night with vaporwave visuals and mashup of house bangers. He even threw in a little remix of Diana Ross’s “Upside Down” and Kreyshawn’s “Gucci Gucci”. He played his latest and arguably, sexiest song “Obsession” which I absolutely adore and went hard for.

After these unforgettable acts, the tide changed and Ship Wrek was upon us. The duo consisting of Collin Maguire and Tripp Churchill opened their set in the most legendary way with Lonely Islands’ “I’m on a boat”. They then seamlessly transitioned into their tune “Danger” and continued to stimulate the crowd’s senses all night long.

Throughout the night, Ship Wrek played many of their incredible songs including “Mirror Mirror”, “Energy” and one of their latest releases “Show Me a Sign” with MKLA. All of which I had some big fangirl moments with as they are some of my favorite songs. Additionally, they spiced up the night with some “Technologic” by Daft Punk song and “Satisfaction” by Benny Benassi.

The constant explosion of the CO2 cryo jets was refreshing and added to the overall experience of the show. As someone who tends to have motion sickness issues, feeling as if I was on a boat rave while being on land was very cleansing and exciting. So thanks to the production crew and Ship Wrek for bringing the vibes.

In addition to this, their DJ skills really stood out to me especially when they had the genius mashup of “Lick it” by Valentino Khan vs “Shake it” by INNDRIVE. Their other mashup that made me lose my marbles was “Chicken Soup” by Skrillex with their original song “Soul”. They closed the night with a really beautiful unreleased track that will be perfect for summer in Oregon.

As a fan of house music and Ship Wrek, I am so appreciative that I got to experience their energy for the first time personally, and for their first show in Portland. Throughout their set Ship Wrek played some unreleased tracks which I am very hyped to play on repeat once they are leased (hopefully soon>.<).
