IVORY says he has no plans to renew US visa ahead of Lost Lands performance
IVORY is set to take the stage at Lost Lands for what he says will be his final U.S. performance for a while as his visa expires.
For IVORY, Lost Lands is about to mark the end of a chapter. The dubstep artist says the festival, where he will perform this weekend, will be his last U.S. show for the foreseeable future as his visa is set to expire shortly after the event.
The artist shared the news in a birthday post marking his 32nd birthday, reflecting on the past three years of touring and the opportunities that came with building his career in the U.S. “Lost Lands was my first ever show in the US, and this weekend it’ll also be my last one for a while,” IVORY wrote. “Feels pretty full circle.”
Why IVORY says he won’t renew his visa
In a follow-up message, IVORY explained that the decision is largely financial. He said his visa expires right after Lost Lands and that he does not plan to renew it anytime soon because of the cost.
The artist also opened up about the financial reality of spending the past three years touring. According to IVORY, once taxes, fees, flights and other expenses are factored in, he has not made money from touring during that period and has accumulated debt that he now needs to repay.
“Money is one thing,” he wrote, explaining that the experience has also taken a toll on his mental health and left him questioning whether he wants to continue touring, despite his career being at a high point.
“It genuinely means more than people probably realize”
IVORY said the financial pressure has extended beyond touring, pointing to work including shows, sample packs, masterclasses, mentoring, Patreon and ghost production.
He encouraged fans who want to support artists to consider buying tickets, purchasing merchandise and supporting their favorite musicians in whatever ways they can.
For now, IVORY is preparing to return to Lost Lands, the same festival that served as his first U.S. performance. He described it as a fitting place to close this chapter before moving on to whatever comes next.
