Diplo turns Burning Man into a ‘GTA 7’ mission in hilarious new video

Diplo has brought his latest Burning Man adventure to life as a hilarious AI-powered “GTA 7” mission while sharing his packed schedule of sets across the playa.

Diplo has somehow turned Burning Man into a full-on Grand Theft Auto mission. The DJ dropped a hilarious AI-made video of his trip to the desert, making it look like he was a playable character cruising around the playa in “GTA 7.”

For anyone unfamiliar, Burning Man takes over Nevada’s Black Rock Desert every year, bringing together massive art installations, wild art cars, music and thousands of people for a week in the middle of nowhere. There’s no shortage of strange moments out there, so Diplo turning his experience into a video game honestly makes a little too much sense.

Diplo was also seriously busy behind the decks this year. Wednesday night included a Major Lazer club set with Ape Drums, while Thursday started with a sunrise B2B alongside Rhye before a Major Lazer Soundsystem reggae set at the iconic Robot Heart.

He wasn’t even close to done. Diplo later went B2B with Gordo at Long Feng before joining Kaz James, Ape Drums, AMÉMÉ, Walshy Fire, It’s Murph, Riche, Francis Mercier and Carlita for a massive 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. session deep in the playa. He hilariously dropped all of his set times in the comments like they were actual GTA missions waiting to be completed.

The timing of the joke is also perfect with GTA 6 finally getting closer to release. For years, the internet has joked about random things happening “before GTA 6,” but Diplo apparently decided we’re already past that point and jumped straight ahead to GTA 7.

Of course, the AI part didn’t land with everyone. Some fans called out the growing amount of “AI slop” popping up across music and social media, but others were clearly in on the joke. Either way, Diplo running around Burning Man like he just unlocked a new GTA map is exactly the type of random crossover the internet was made for.

Hey everyone, I’m Neil! I first joined the dance community back in 2019 when my friend dragged me to Moonrise, my first-ever music festival, and I became hooked ever since. I like to dabble in most genres with my favorites being tech house and melodic techno. When it comes to studio output, Camelphat is part of my daily listening rotation and for a live performance, I’ll never miss a Solomun set. You can likely catch me on the dance floor somewhere in Brooklyn!
