Mikey Lion shares horrific details into eye injury

Mikey Lion’s injury details reveal how a burst soap bottle sent the Desert Hearts DJ to the ER, fearing for his eyesight.

Mikey Lion is counting his blessings after a freak accident nearly cost him his vision. The Desert Hearts figurehead took explained on Instagram how a bottle of Dr. Bronner’s soap triggered a medical emergency. According to Lion, the bottle’s nozzle had clogged, prompting him to squeeze it much harder than usual.

When the cap finally gave way, the soap bounced off his hand and shot into both eyes. The DJ described an immediate and chaotic reaction. He said the pain left him screaming, disoriented, and unable to see. His four-year-old child witnessed the frightening moment, while Lion compared the scene to the brutal eye sequence in Kill Bill.

Lion said he spent four hours in the emergency room before receiving a saline eye flush. The treatment brought relief, but it was far from comfortable. He compared the experience to the clinical restraint imagery of A Clockwork Orange. The situation also left him panicked that the accident had caused lasting damage.

For several days afterward, Lion stayed largely in darkness. Moving his eyes, he wrote, felt as though sandpaper was trapped beneath his eyelids. Audiobooks became a lifeline during the recovery period. Lion specifically thanked the Dungeon Crawler Carl series for helping him pass the time while he avoided light.

Thankfully, Lion said his doctor has confirmed that his eyes are healing as expected. He did not share a timeline for a full recovery, but his update suggested that the most serious danger has passed. Lion used the post to reflect on how suddenly priorities can change. Career stress, minor frustrations, and daily worries can consume attention until a health scare puts everything else in sharper focus.

“Appreciate your eyesight today,” he told followers, adding one self-deprecating warning: do not “death-grip” a Dr. Bronner’s bottle.
