United Airlines is bringing direct flights from New York to Ibiza in 2027
In a landmark move for international nightlife travelers and dance music enthusiasts alike, United Airlines has officially announced its first-ever direct air service between the United States and Ibiza.
Set to launch on May 31, 2027, a new transatlantic route will connect Newark Liberty International Airport directly to Ibiza Airport. Operating four times weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, the seasonal service will run through October 7. For North Americans heading to festival hotspots like Ibiza, the new route eliminates the annoyance of layovers in European hub cities, creating an easy gateway directly from New York to the Mediterranean’s dance capital.
The flights will be operated using United’s Airbus A321XLR, an advanced aircraft custom-designed for transatlantic routes that require premium comfort without the need for massive wide-body jets. Elevating the travel experience to match the luxury lifestyle of Ibiza, the cabin features 32 premium seats, including 20 full-suite United Polaris suites and 12 United Premium Plus seats. Passengers will also enjoy upgraded Economy Plus options, 4K screens, Bluetooth headphone connectivity, and complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members.
The groundbreaking Newark-to-Ibiza route forms part of United Airlines’ largest international expansion to date, introducing 10 new destinations across Europe and Asia for summer 2027. Ibiza stands out as one of eight exclusive locations where United will be the sole U.S. carrier offering a direct, nonstop connection for American travelers.
This historic expansion comes right after the increasing demand for Ibiza among North American travelers. According to figures released by the Island Council of Ibiza, the destination saw a massive 21.74% surge in North American arrivals in May 2026 compared to the previous year. Between January and June alone, the flight search volume between the U.S. and Ibiza reached an astounding 4.9 million queries, a nearly 40% jump from the same period in 2025.

Local tourism authorities and island leaders have welcomed United’s announcement, recognizing the economic potential of direct access to the lucrative U.S. market. By targeting American visitors, who traditionally have higher spending power and a strong interest in exploring Ibiza’s cultural offerings alongside its iconic nightlife, the island aims to elevate its global appeal beyond high-capacity party tourism.
Ultimately, this milestone route serves as a major bridge between North America’s booming dance music scene and one of the major homes of electronic music culture. By transforming Newark Airport into a direct launchpad for Ibiza, United Airlines is setting the stage for a dramatic new chapter in transatlantic nightlife travel come summer 2027.
