John Summit cancels August festival dates to prepare for upcoming tour
John Summit has announced he must cancel certain August festival dates to recharge before his CTRL ESCAPE tour.
John Summit has decided to hit pause on the remainder of his August festival run. Specifically, Summit canceled four European dates to prep for his first-ever arena tour and undoubtedly get some rest. Summit shared the news in a candid social media statement on Monday, August 17.
He said he’d decided “to take the rest of august off of touring to rest & get ready for my upcoming arena tour. As a result, he won’t appear at Pukkelpop in Belgium, Creamfields in the U.K., BBC Radio 1 Dance in Malta, or Le Touquet in France. The affected shows span August 21–29. “I rarely ever do this,” he wrote, adding that he “need[s] to recharge [his] battery a bit before this fall.”
The reaction online has been overwhelmingly supportive. Many pointed to his relentless pace: Lolla, a packed European summer, and a weekly Ibiza slot. A short pause before arenas felt like a smart move. Moreover, comments on fan pages and EDM outlets generally praised the honesty. Festival-goers affected by the lineup changes shared disappointment, but most understood the trade-off. Better a refreshed Summit in arenas than a stretched-thin one at festivals.
Summit’s 2026 has been a nonstop climb. On stage, his ability to captivate any room night after night is undeniable. Offstage, his brand keeps expanding. Experts Only Festival returns to Randall’s Island on September 19–20 after a 50,000-fan debut in 2025. He also wrapped a nine-Monday Ibiza residency at UNVRS under the Experts Only banner.
The timing of Summit’s announcement also lines up with a heavy stretch ahead. Summit’s CTRL ESCAPE arena tour kicks off October 1 at Illinois State Farm Center. Thereafter, it hits major rooms like TD Garden, United Center, and Barclays Center. Finally, he ends with his biggest headline show yet: Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on December 12.
Festival organizers confirmed the lineup changes and pointed fans to refund or update pages. Pukkelpop and Creamfields both posted schedule notes within hours of Summit’s announcement. Ultimately, while this announcement may come as a bummer, a brief pause is what John needs to preserve his career longevity.
